Location: Wimberly, Texas

Owner: Larry and Lauraine Rose

Nestled into a rising hillside dense with live oak trees, this house is designed to embrace the Texas Hill Country beauty.  Private spaces, like bedrooms and studios are tucked into the foliage while larger open spaces capture the broad vistas of the landscape.  Two rectangular masses, separating private from public areas, are skewed to create a private entry courtyard and broaden to a terraced garden.  Linking the two masses is a foyer gallery, designed to accommodate the couple’s growing folk art collections.  A natural palette of native limestones, site-harvested stone, wood and muted colors were chosen to echo the tones and textures of the surrounding landscape.
